Dr. Corey Marks

Dr. Corey Marks holds a Ph.D. in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Houston, an MFA from the Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College, and a BA in English from Kalamazoo College.

His writing has received a number of awards, including an Academy of American Poets Prize, a James Michener Fellowship, and a Breadloaf Writers' Conference Scholarship.

His poems have appeared in Antioch Review, Black Warrior Review, Orion, The Paris Review, Raritan, and other journals. New England Review's special Issue: "A New Generation: Poems for the Next Century" featured his work.

In 1999, Philip Levine selected Marks's first book as a winner in the National Poetry Series Open Competition. The volume, Renunciation, was published in 2000 by the University of
Illinois Press.
