Dr. Nicole Smith

Dr. Nicole Smith (B.A., Duke University, 1997; Ph.D., Rutgers University, 2005) specializes in medieval literature and culture.

Dr. Smith has articles on late-medieval fashion, sexuality, and sumptuary legislation forthcoming in Studies in the Age of Chaucer (2006) and Companion to Pre-1600 British Poetry (2007). She is presently working on a book-length study on the rhetoric of dress in the later Middle Ages. Her research and teaching interests include the works of Geoffrey Chaucer, medieval romance and allegory, late-medieval penitential manuals, and sexuality studies.
