Ph.D. Candidate Schedule of Deadlines

The candidate may begin formulating the Dissertation Committee as early as the first semester of coursework.

Advising and Degree Plan Updates Every 9 hours

Foundation Courses

First 3 semesters of coursework
Faculty Adviser First 27 hours of coursework
Major Area Declaration First 27 hours of coursework
Application for Transfer Credit (if applicable) First 27 hours of coursework
All coursework Fourth year in program
Foreign Language Requirement Fourth year in program
Dissertation Committee Fourth year in program
Completed, Signed Degree Plan Fourth year in program
Ph.D. Examination Last semester of organized coursework (Taken either in November or in April)
Directed Research Upon completion of all coursework, Ph.D. Examination, and Foreign Language Requirement
Dissertation Prospectus Approval
Dissertation Upon completion of Ph.D. Examination, Foreign Language Requirement, and Directed Research
Dissertation Defense Last semester in program
Graduation Application Last semester in program (Application is filed with the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies)
Filing Dissertation with the Toulouse School of Graduate Studies Upon successful completion of the Dissertation Defense
