Teaching Fellowships

Graduate students in the Department of English may apply for a Teaching Fellowship if they have met the
following requirements:
  • Minimum score in the 70th percentile (score of 550) on the verbal portion of the GRE
  • 18 hours of graduate work in English
  • Complete Teaching Fellow Application
  • Full-time status as a graduate student in the Department
    of English
  • Successful completion of either
    ENGL 5550: Studies in the Teaching of Composition or ENTW 5550: Studies in the Teaching of
                            Technical Composition
Teaching Fellows gain experience teaching a variety of
courses including:
  • ENGL 1310: College Writing I
  • ENGL 1312: Grammar and Composition for
                            International Students
  • ENGL 1313: Computer Assisted College Writing I
  • ENGL 1315: Writing about Literature I
  • ENGL 1320: College Writing II
  • ENGL 1322: Composition and Rhetoric for
                            International Students
  • ENGL 1323: Computer Assisted College Writing II
  • ENGL 1325: Writing about Literature II
  • ENGL 2210: Masterpieces of World Literature I
  • ENGL 2220: Masterpieces of World Literature II
  • ENGL 2352: Literature for International Students I
  • ENGL 2362: Literature for International Students II
  • ENGL 2700: Introduction to Technical Writing
